UPDATE FROM FOREVER FAMILY DEC 2010: Daisy is doing great! She is the sweetest dog and absolutely loves everyone. She plays with her Golden sister as much as Tallie allows (although if it were up to Daisy it would be more)! Her favorite are puppies and she keeps asking for one for Christmas but unfortunately we are maxed out at 4. She is doing better and better with her cart. Orthopets has been amazing at tailoring her cart to her own special needs. Without them I think she would be having a much more difficult time as most carts are not made to accommodate for the curvature in her spine. They truly are geniuses at what they do and have managed to think up easy solutions to all the problems we've encountered. I'm able to bring her to work with me which she also loves probably because everyone loves her too! I can tell she is really coming into her own because out of nowhere she has become a "talker". Nobody can walk by the office or enter the office without saying hi to Daisy or she will tell you all about it! It's been wonderful to watch her personality grow as she's gained more independence and has become more comfortable. When I started fostering her she was very timid and every change or new surrounding terrified her. Since figuring out that she has some stability and life isn't as bad as it once was she is reveling in it. When I take her outside at work she will happily race outside in her cart like it's the best thing ever invented. However, when it comes to going back inside she looks at me like she has no idea how to work this crazy contraption I've attached to her. She is a true con-artist and knows exactly how to sucker me into getting what she wants. Multiple times I have seen her stand up and walk a couple feet outside of the office but the second she catches me looking she runs back into the office and lies on her bed so nobody will know she's not as pathetic as she plays. As far as I'm concerned she's scamming the world into thinking they should throw her a pity party everyday and that's pretty much what we do! She's doing better than I could have imagined and hopefully she will have many more wonderful years. Thanks for bringing Daisy into our family.

ORIGINAL ADOPTION BIO : Daisy! Daisy! . . . one of the sweetest, most gentle and loving Goldens you will ever meet! She is eight months old and her foster family can not say enough wonderful things about this pint sized young lady. At first, Daisy was not so sure about being an indoor dog but now she is loving it. You can usually find her playing with her toys in the living room, following her foster mom around the house or taking a nap on her bed. (She thinks the bed is especially cool!) One of Daisy's foster brothers has taught her how to play tug-of-war, fetch and the ever popular "chase me game." She loves to meet new dogs and has even won over the grumpy, older dog in her foster home.

Daisy has what the veterinarian calls a "deformity" in her spine. (Shhhh....don't tell Daisy. She has no idea.) Basically, she has a large curve in in her spine that creates a hump on her back. Because of this, Daisy's walk is a bit unusual but it causes no pain and certainly does not stop her from chasing her foster brothers around the back yard. It is difficult for Daisy to walk on hard surfaces like title or wood floors. Stairs are also tough for her; she likes to try them all by herself, but it really is not safe for her to do so. There are stairs in her foster home but Daisy is happy to hang out on the first floor and when her humans want her upstairs...they easily carry her. Daisy is petite at just 25 pounds!

Daisy visited a vet specialist here in Colorado with GRFR. We learned that there isn't anything we can do to fix Daisy's spine. We also learned, that although Daisy will likely have a shorter life than most Goldens, she can also have a good and happy life, enjoying many activities with her family. Daisy lives in the now, and she will show you how to do that too!

Daisy's wish list includes... a family who will enjoy as many puppy experiences with Daisy as she shows and tells you she is ready to for - cuddling, play time, trips to the dog park. Most important of all unconditional love! Because Daisy cannot climb stairs her family should have a one story home or be OK with carrying her when she needs to go up or down. Her new home also should have carpet or rugs so Daisy can get around the house with ease. Her foster family does have wood floors but Daisy gets around fine using the rugs placed throughout their home.

Although Daisy will never be your running partner, she is going to make her lucky family very happy. Her foster mom says "Daisy is so appreciative of everything our family does for her, and the love she gives back in return fills our hearts with joy."

Daisy had a wonderful time at the GRFR reunion picnic. She and her "brother" Tulley were so happy to see eachother again. Daisy won everyone's heart and made loads of new doggy and human friends. She is an amazing and truly special little girl.

If you think you may be Daisy's match, please fill out your application and let GRFR know.
