Sweet Pea 123-05

Sweet Pea picture 1 Sweet Pea picture 2 Sweet Pea picture 3

Sweet Pea is a sweetheart! She is a lovely, Golden mix, soft, furry, gentle and so easy to love. Sweet Pea is easy to live with too. She has impeccable house manners and is trustworthy to "free roam" at home if you are working or doing errands that don't include Sweet Pea. She is smaller than her purebred cousins. She walks nicely with you on leash and enjoys riding along in the car. Invite Sweet Pea and she will be happy to say, "Yes, let's go!"

Sweet Pea is all about companionship and sharing life with her people. She is healthy, a good weight, nine years old, and enjoys her daily walks. She loves to be close by her foster dad -- and does not want to miss anything! Foster dad loves Sweet Pea too, but his dog quota is already filled. So, Sweet Pea has given him the wish list for her forever family:

- Lots of love and affection because Sweet Pea has lots for you too
- Adults who are calm and easy going; kids are a bit unpredictable for Sweet Pea
- Some days, an inexpensive over the counter allergy pill to help w occasional sniffles
- Another dog is fine, tho Sweet Pea will be happy as your "one and only" too. Cats? Not sure.
- Your leash and tennies ready for some nice walks together -- none of that pulling and tugging stuff
- A cozy dog bed, or permission to snuggle up on the couch and in bed with you

If you would like to learn more about Sweet Pea becoming your very own sweetheart, please apply on line today and mention her name. She is all set to take a look at your application!

King 04-09

Oh King of Hearts! GRFR King is a Golden-hearted Yellow Lab mix. He is a honey! Tall, handsome, trim and muscular, and ready to chose a very lucky family to call his own. King did not have such good luck himself recently when his "family" had plans that did not include him. Good thing that King lives in the now. He is so very forgiving and has so much love to share with you. After all, King has the best of Lab traits! He is loyal, affectionate, patient, fun loving, energetic, highly intelligent, and truly good-natured.

King is a family-ready dog. He is only four years old but he is fine already with gentle children of all ages, though his size could be a little "much" for very young children who do not have big dog experience yet. King loves other dogs and gets along well with cats too. He would love to play and rough house with his foster "sister and brother" Goldens. But that will need to wait. King has two torn ACLs. GRFR is having King's first ACL surgically repaired right way. GRFR will also be paying for King to have his other ACL taken care of by one of GRFR's preferred vets, about six month once the first has healed and the vet gives King the "go ahead. So, playing will take a back seat to King's rehab for the coming months. King will need to take it real real easy for 4 - 6 weeks after his surgery. He will need to be on leash, even for potty outside and take frequent short gentle walks to help heal and strengthen his knee. King will not be able to walk up and down steps or hop into the car. Water therapy also will be extremely helpful for King's reconditioning and will speed up his recovery too.

King will need your help with his rehab, and he will be forever grateful. He knows that, fortunately, many forever homes have helped their furry family members with ACL rehab. If you are such a family, that is great because you know already what a wonderful experience it is to bond so closely with your Lab. If you have not had ACL experience yet, no worries. GRFR's experienced Vet Coordinators can show and tell you all you need to know. King sure hopes you will agree that his love will make all of your caring for him seem pretty easy.

King loves to carry his doggy toys and other things around with him. He is trustworthy at home when you are at work or doing errands and he cannot come along. He loves to ride in the car and is a good passenger. King walks nicely on leash together with you. He would love to snuggle up on the couch with you and sneak up onto your bed too, if you let him. If not, that's okay. King just wants to know you are nearby and that you will always be there for him.

If you would like to learn more about a royal young Lab becoming a member of your family, please apply on line today. King will be honored to meet you too!

Polo/Leo 154-09

Polo is a prize! He is a loving, super handsome, healthy Golden- hearted Labrador Retriever. Those who have had the good fortune to live with a Lab know they are wonderful dogs: loyal, affectionate, patient, happy and fun loving. They are also energetic, highly intelligent, and good-natured. Polo is all Lab!

Polo is a happy go lucky, smiling, tail wagging boy who loves to be with his people. Polo also loves other dogs and lives to play. His size and energy are a good match for dog experienced children 12 years or older and larger dogs. No small children, small dogs or kitty cats please!

Foster mom and dad will help Polo choose a family who commits to doggy school. Polo will brush up on the basics and learn more. You and Polo will build your trust and deepen your bond with each other too. "A well-trained Lab is a happy Lab, with a happy family too!"

Mr. Polo is a typical two year old Lab -- and that means daily exercise is at the top of his list! He walks well on leash, after the excitement of the first block or so. If you are looking for an eager jogging partner, Polo is ready to go!

Polo does well in his foster home crate for short periods when he is home alone. GRFR recommends that Polo spend no more than a few hours at a time in his crate given his youthful energy.

As his foster folks say, "Polo is a big, sweet, strong, athletic, goofy, clumsy, charming and exuberant teenager!

If you are Lab savvy and looking for a wonderful furry family member, please apply on line today. Polo would love to meet you!

Dot 217-09

Hi Golden lovers! My name is Dottie, affectionately known as "Dottie Pepper" because I will add sweet spice to your life.

Please wish me happy birthday! I just turned thirteen. Although I'm not a Colorado native, I have to admit, I just love living here. I am originally a Southern gal and Darlin' I have impeccable manners and maybe even a bit of a Southern drawl in my sweet bark. Don't let my age fool you. I have lots of spunk and life to live! I love a nice walk (and am a star on the leash). I do have a bit of arthritis so my foster parents give me joint supplements that help lots. Who doesn't have a bit of arthritis anyway! So I guess a home with fewer stairs would be best. A yard with soft grass to roll in, "shortish" walks and lots of love --that's what I'm hoping for!

My original family took great care of me and though they had to give me up I was obviously loved and had great vet care. My foster mom took me to meet a new and wonderful vet, and everyone there loved me. Modestly I say that everyone I meet loves me!! Dr Dan was very impressed with my health --but we Southern gals age well anyway:). Seems I've had ear infections over the years that come and go, but now that I am on great Duck dog food, no problem! Now, I can't hear all that well but who needs that when my nose works so well?

I am a real people dog . . . I just love to do whatever you are doing, but my favorite is to help with gardening and, of course, keeping the yard safe from squirrels. My other favorite is meal time - I get very excited while my meals are being prepared and politely hop up and down in anticipation.

My other favorite things are to lay in the rain (ok light rain), roll in the grass and sniff the cool breezes. I am not a big fan of the heat but again, I do love to help in the yard and I can always find a shady spot to relax. According to foster Mom I love snow too.

So you ask "What makes this beautiful Southern gal happy?" That's easy! A home with or without other dogs. No kitty cats please. Lots of loving, belly rubs, soft grass to roll in, short daily walks, and my Duck dog food. And love. You will agree, for sure, that I deserve lots of love. And so do you. I promise to return your love a million times over!

Love & Tail Wags,
Dottie
