Hanney is a 9 yr old Purebred Female who everyone describes as sweet, adorable, gentle and one tough cookie! In fact, she has been described as "the quintessential over-acheiver". She just powers through everything that life throws at her.
Hanney came to GRFR after having already been rescued once. Unfortunately her rescuer became ill and was unable to care for Hanney. That's when GRFR stepped in! We were told Hanney had an elk antler embedded in her side. GRFR immediately took her to the vet and it turned out to be a 6-inch long tree limb. Apparently, it had been in there quite a long time as the skin had healed over, and was causing infection internally. Hanney had surgery and now doing great!
Now that the stick is gone, we're concentrating on Hanney's other issues - elbow and hip dysplasia. Surgery wasn't a good option for her so GRFR worked with Orthopets, a local Colorado company. Orthopets made custom orthotics for Hanney's elbows that enable her to play and run pain-free! Hanney can swim with her orthotics on and she loves to walk on the weekends. She is very comfortable with a mile or two. She is so confident with her braces, they really make a difference in her ability to go up and down stairs and just getting around in general. She gently holds up each leg every morning for her foster mom to put on her legs.
Hanney's foster family, and everyone else that meets her, loves her! Her foster mom says "she is such a trooper". She has the kindest soul and is just in general a good girl. She loves to run and play and swim and chase squirrels and roll in the snow and all the other things other goldens love to do. Hanney's foster mom says she is the easiest foster she has ever had. Hanney just wants to be loved. Hanney's favorite weekend outing is Lowe's. She meanders around the aisles and stops in front of everyone and waits for them to pet her. Hanney also loves to go camping and basically everything else her foster siblings do with the family.
Hanney deserves a family that will love her for the rest of her life! She is one of those easy-to-love, easy-to-live-with golden oldies. Won't you give her a chance?
Hanney is on an inexpensive daily pain medication along with glucosomine and fish oil.
